The journey to the Indian Ocean took roughly 3-4 months.

Capabilities: While standard Type VII boats had a range of around 8,500 nautical miles, larger, specialized types were used for these extremely long-range missions.

The Monsun Gruppe: During the "Monsun Gruppe" (Monsoon Group) operations, U-boats, such as U-168, U-183, U-188, U-532, and U-533, successfully broke through to the Indian Ocean in 1943.
