It is really the same person: Guards Major escadrille C.O. of 14 GIAP Nikolaj Ivanovitsh Svitenko was appointed C.O. of 15 GvShAP after the former regiment C.O. Maj F.Shmyshlyayev was killed in action 7 September 1942. However Svitenko was appointed C.O. of his old regiment 14 GIAP in November 1943 after the C.O. G.M.Golitsyn was KIA. Svitenko's career was certainly unique in changing twice between commanding positions of different regiment types (IAP vs. ShAP)!!

See the rather detailled history of 15 GShAP by V.Alekseyenko and S.Potapov: "Gvardiya Nevskogo polka" Kaliningrad 1991 which also gives a good description of the regiment´ s activities on the Karelian Ishtmus June-July 1944 including the successful surprise attack against the Luftwaffe base at Immola in SE Finland 2 July 1944.

Very useful information. I'll try to find this book by Alekseenko and Potapov but I think chances are pretty little.

Можно еще посмотреть книги Бурова ведь Свитенко довольно известный персонаж.

Еще в 1941 году он вывез на своем самолете сержанта? Слонова о чем упоминается практически в любой книге о битве над Ленинградом. Известна и его фотография вместе со Слоновым.

Кстати Карлу можно отвечать по-русски чтобы неанглоязычные участники форума могли также читать. Карл прекрасно разговаривает и читает на русском.
