Рубрики 1936-1945 гг.;

This interesting ID tag was found by spanish researcher Isaac Montoya:

[238K]

My toughts:
By the end of March 1938 Zavod 21 made some 3500 I-16s. Type 10 production started in February 1938. In 1938 Zavod completed 1070 I-16s or some 90 machines per month.

354 is seriya, but how many planes in seriya? Only 10??? SB bombers were made in series of 20.

nº 124 is most likely 124th plane of the Type 10

Questions:

How many planes in Zavod 21 Seriya? 10 only or maybe 100? If 100 planes, maybe we should read this number as 35/4?

Can anybody confirm that no 124 is 124th I-16 Type 10?

What is OTK 2/30 ??

What is L 240 ?

Is this a standard I-16 ID tag or a special "export" tag?

Konstantin

Re: Шильдик испанского...

>This interesting ID tag was found by spanish researcher Isaac Montoya:

This one looks like a tag taken from some subassembly. It seems to me, it is not an airframe number.

Remains of Zavod #21 aircraft indicate numbers like 1021909.

Some other example. On the airframe №5153141 the following tags where found:

>Can anybody confirm that no 124 is 124th I-16 Type 10?

Not me.

>What is OTK 2/30 ??

ОТК stands for QA - Quality Assurance. 2/30 is a 'stamp' assigned for some QA technician.

>Is this a standard I-16 ID tag or a special "export" tag?

Looks absolutely standard.

How many planes in Zavod 21 "Seriya"???

Thanks for the explanations.
Also thanks for the English translation. I can understand Russian, so you may write in Russian only.

This does make sense. "Zavodskie nomer" is clearly missing.
Could letter "Л" mean "Left" - like "Left wing" or "left lending gear strut"?

>>Can anybody confirm that no 124 is 124th I-16 Type 10?

This is to bad. It fits so nicely with the date 29 3 1938г.
And Seriya 354 fits almost perfectly with 3500 planes made by 29 March 1938.

Again my question from yesterday:
How many I-16 in pre-war Zavod 21 "Seriya"?

And one similar:
How many LaGG-3 in Zavod 21 "Seriya"?

Thanks in advance,
Konstantin

>Could letter "Л" mean "Left" - like "Left wing" or "left lending gear strut"?

>>>Can anybody confirm that no 124 is 124th I-16 Type 10?

>Again my question from yesterday:

>And one similar:
>How many LaGG-3 in Zavod 21 "Seriya"?

Re: How many...

Hi Rutil,

Thanks again. Excellent information, as usual.

You are correct! I-16 Type 10 arrived in Spain in summer 1938, so it's quite possible that some of them were completed as late as June 1938.

Konstantin

Some numbers from I. Montoya, based on Hronologiya Rodionova:

Zavod 21 production from January 1938 to July 1938:

January----------------- 99 planes
February---------------- 84 "
March------------------- 58 "
April---------------------- none
May---------------------- none
June--------------------- 45 planes
July---------------------- 38 "

Total-------------------- 324 planes

By “Type” Zavod 21 made:

Type 5-------------------- 195
Type10--------------------129

Almost all Type 10 planes were sent to Spain:
Out of 129 I-16 Type 10 made, 121 planes were sent to Spain. 31 planes were sent in March 1938, the other 90 planes were sent in June, July and August 1938.

I found this information quite interesting. One may think of “Type 10” almost as an export model. It became available to VVS only 6 months after the beginning of the production.
Eventually Type 10 become the most produced I-16 sub-type.
Comments?

Konstantin

Does anybody have a photo of Zavod 21 I-16 ID tag?

We need photo of the main, principal tag which shows “Zavodsikiy Nomer”.
A tag from a museum I-16, a tag from a wreck or a tag from private collection would work.

Where was this tag located on the plane?

Konstantin
